The Blue Whale is the largest whale species with enormous size and weight. With a life span ranging from 30-80 years and weight close to 150 tonnes, these magnificent creature doesn’t stop to amaze! We, humans, are tiny beings in comparison to these giants.

Mammals not Large Fish

Blue Whales may look like giant fishes but these are the warm-blooded mammals that breathe through the lungs. Like, all other mammals, they give birth to babies rather than laying eggs.

‘Blue Whales’ mostly appear to be blue-grey while swimming close to the surface. However, their asking appears to be beautiful blue while underwater. Their skin is home to millions of microorganisms that give their bellies a yellowish shade.

Longest Living Animal

Besides being the largest living organism, blue whales are also one of those with the longest lifespan. Blue Whales has an average life span of 80 years. Interestingly, a whale’s age is calculated by counting the layers of their waxy earplugs just like the tree’s age.

Larger than the Dinosaurs?

Blue Whales are the biggest mammals that ever lived. They are larger and heavier than other animals that ever lived on Earth.

Baby Blue Whale is not a baby!

Though baby while if of course way smaller than the mother whale. However, it is already a giant compared to other animals. It is not surprising that a tiny but massive baby weighs around 3 tonnes and is already 25 feet long!
